Ohio State Football News
If you’re an Ohio State fan, you’ve probably noticed some interesting news in recent weeks. Dijon Johnson, a four-star cornerback from Wharton, FL, announced his decommitment from the Buckeyes. The Florida native had committed to the Buckeyes in April, and was ranked among the Top 100 Players in the country. But that commitment has come to an end after Johnson announced his decommitment. Now, Johnson will look for a new team.
Arvell Reese
The latest Arvell Reese, Ohio Stat football news has the Buckeyes as early favorites in the national recruiting class. The four-star linebacker has a long list of offers, with Ohio State the early favorite. But Reese is not in a hurry to commit just yet. He plans to take official visits to five different schools during his recruitment. Though Reese will likely get the first scholarship offer from Ohio State, other programs are vying for his commitment.
C.J. Stroud
Redshirt sophomore quarterback C.J. Stroud is the favorite to win the 2022 Heisman Trophy. He was the Heisman Trophy winner in 2021, but the Heisman is on the rise again. According to Pro Football Focus, Stroud is the best quarterback in 2022, but there are three other contenders. The second-best quarterback next year is Caleb Williams, while the third-best is Spencer Rattler.
Richard Young
While Oregon is the clear favorite to land running back Richard Young, it is not the only contender. Ohio State has already held a commitment from another running back. Young is on his final official visit to the Buckeyes. Ohio State hopes that his three previous visits will land him a commitment, too. Here are some details to watch for in Young’s recruiting process. Listed below are a few of his top prospects.
Devin Royal
If you have been following the Ohio State football recruiting story, you’ve probably been hearing about Devin Royal. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Royal averaged 19.1 points, eight rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game as a junior. He scored 16 of his 20 points during the second half of his team’s 55-48 victory over Centerville in the Division I state championship last March. Royal is the third member of Ohio State’s 2023 recruiting class.
Dijon Johnson
Defensive back Dijon Johnson has decommitted from Ohio State, putting the Buckeyes’ 2023 recruiting class at 19 players. The 2023 class was down to 19 players, but there are still three cornerbacks committed. In April, Johnson committed to Ohio State and joined Bryson Rodgers as an Buckeye. But Johnson visited Florida last weekend and didn’t grant media interviews. Now, the Buckeyes are looking for a new cornerback to bolster their 2023 recruiting class.
C.J. Middleton
The Miami native was offered by the Buckeyes in January and visited the school five weeks later. After that, he listed Ohio State as one of his top five schools, along with Kansas, UConn, Texas A&M and Seton Hall. Now, Ohio State’s 2023 recruiting class has four members, including four-star center C.J. Middleton. This makes Ohio State’s 2023 recruiting class the third-best overall in 247Sports’ composite team rankings, behind Kentucky, Georgia Tech and Georgia.
