Nissan and Renault Set Up Research Centers in Silicon Valley
Nissan and Renault have set up offices in Mountain View to continue their work in the silicon valley. While the Mountain View office will not be the same as the Sunnyvale lab, its engineers will continue to be located in Sunnyvale. In fact, Renault engineers will remain in Sunnyvale until their work in Mountain View is complete. Other companies will also set up labs in Mountain View. But the two major automakers have a long history in Silicon Valley.
Nissan Research Center Silicon Valley
The new Nissan Research Center in Silicon Valley is part of a global strategy by the Japanese automaker to localize the R&D function in key markets. Its researchers will conduct research in Human Machine Interface to improve connected vehicle services and will study how humans and machines interact. The Silicon Valley facility will also collaborate with the Nissan Research Center in Japan. As a result, the center is already generating innovative ideas for future Nissan vehicles. For example, the Nissan Research Center is already working on developing driverless cars.
The center will be home to a number of departments, including advanced driving assistance systems, connected vehicle technologies, and human machine interface. Ford Fusion Hybrid Autonomous Research Vehicle
A new automaker is joining the race for driverless cars, with the launch of a new research center in Silicon Valley. Ford will be testing its autonomous Fusion Hybrid vehicles in Silicon Valley.
